Introduction

Hi, everyone. First, I want to thank Mike Corriero and Davi Blight for inviting me to join this blog. You're all artists that I respect and admire, and I'm honored to be included here.

Anyway, I'm Cory Trego-Erdner, known on the internetz as Moai. I'm a student (graduating with an AA this year), I have a humble job (cashier at a dollar store), and I have aspirations of becoming a concept artist. When I'm not drawing, I'm observing. I have a few personal projects that I want to get started soon that will involve plenty of creature design, but until then here's some older creature work of mine.

Welcome, Cory! Wow, these thumbs are fantastic! Nice to see that ol' Hippodile/Crocopotamus pop up again. :) Love the Barlowesque creature... Hope to see the 3D all normal-mapped (maybe?).

As I look further at those thumbs, I realize that this was actually the grouping that made the most lasting impression in my mind from that whole C.O.W. thread. Just took me a while to stumble upon the critters that had really burned themselves into my mind. Again, fantastic job!

Thanks, William! You're too kind.

To tell the truth, this was just me goofing around on zBrush, not knowing what I was doing. It's actually a poorly-made model, as you can see from the seams. I was advised to re-topolize (topologize?) it, but I got lost when I tried to do so. So, I think normal-mapping is somewhat out of my league at this point.:)

Haha I remember the COW challenge....frantic nearing the end. You managed to render yours out all nicely. Great work!
