Crustacean + Sketchbook page

An upright Crustacean-like creature based off of hermit crabs. Based on a very quick, small, rough sketch and playing around with a swirl of color found within the exoskeleton. There is also a page worht of creature thumbnails each with a real world animal kept in mind when having designed them.

Good to see some more creature designs from you, Mike.

Hey Davi,
I'll have to do what I said and try and set aside at least an hour of personal painting time each night, otherwise.... that Bison creature will never even get started. Thanks

William, thanks man. I need to post more often, I have a lot of sketches but I need more finished critters.

Moai, hey man thanks a lot. How goes the creature mentoring?

Wish I could sketch like that! The four-legged beetle thing is great, very believable.

Eh, the creature mentoring is going okay. Everyone pretty much took the summer off, but things seem to be getting up and going again.

Cool design! I really like the exploratory sketches. I love getting in and working that stuff out.

Simon thanks man, I wish I could paint like you do ;)

Vinod, thanks. Yea..thumbnailing has taken over much of how I draw now. I always used to draw big when exploring an idea which was a waste of time if the concept came out like crap. So now I do pages filled with a ton of little thumbnails before moving on to reworking it and finalizing things. I was checking out your site and DAMN am I impressed man. Great sketches there.
