Yauba: Demon - Bobenlik: Imp

Here is another Demon from Warstorm.
This guy was left completely open and although I hadn't seen Hellboy 2 yet, there was definitely some influence from the Death Angel in that film. I just changed a few things and added some minor touch ups tonight from the original used in the game. I had fun with the idea that the demon really had no ears, eyes, nose, or mouth though it's slightly indicated. I think this guy was one of my favorites from all the creatures I painted.

Nice to see some illustrative work from you Mike, alongside the design work. The second image here is my favorite of the bunch. The values and atmosphere just seem really strong. Great stuff man

Scott,
Thanks.. yea I need to produce more paintings with my designs interacting, in poses and having more of an editorial narrative to the Illustration. I'm hoping to capture Wizards of the Coast attention for Magic the Gathering, or White Wolf Publishing and other game cards, Dungeons and Dragons and other books and companies.

I definitely prefer these two to the two in the more recent posting...

There're numerous things to recommend these two, but with the more recent ones I feel like something is being demolished in translation...

Not to be, you know, a jerk or anything (I hope). It's just that there's a fullness of form and design and perspective to nearly all of your drawings and that includes many coloured versions (like the upright bug notions), that just seems to have flown out the window with the recent ones.

Merry Christmas, though! ;)

William,
Thanks for the crits/compliment. It could just be that these card illustrations for warstorm were done quite quickly and meant to be seen at a very small scale so I didn't pay attention to a lot of things I might normally do. (I hope that's why, hope I'm not moving backward in progression ^^ )

What "upright bug notions" are you referring to? Just to be clear, not quite sure I understand.
